Police pay a visit to Gun Culture
Lurch, over at Gun Culture has had a visit from the police. This is not so unusual given that he is a firearms certificate holder as it is the responsibility of the police to issue these licenses and his license is due. What is not so usual is that they have brought up the subject of his blog and are, apparently, unhappy with some of its contents.
It has always been the case that FAC and shotgun certificate owners have generally had to conduct themselves as supercitizens. Each morning most of us dress in our whiter than white spandex supercitizen uniforms and go about our day avoiding breaking the thousands of laws that most people ignore or don’t even know exist.
Go out for a drink, someone takes an unnatural interest in you because they are drunk and you are not, well it is every supercitizens sworn responsibility to treat such unfortunate souls with care, and love, and peace, and kindness. Also, doing anything else will result in the end of your right to keep some sporting guns in a vault in the most inaccessible room in your house.
Lurch has a blog about guns in the UK. It is perfectly natural and reasonable for him to comment upon the place that guns have in British policing and, though he may have occasionally been flippant, from what I have read I don’t see him as a danger to himself or as a danger to the general public.
My advice to him would be to immediately contact the British Association for Shooting and Conservation. They have a legal department and can give good advice.

Howdy,
I’m an American born and raised in the southwest, so please forgive my frankness. I was taught to shoot at 8, expert with rifle and pistol by 12, owned guns all my life.
Your blog scares the hell out of me.
I would really like to think that I love my country enough to stand by her when they come to take my guns. But, they’ve taken so many other rights from me or whittled them down until they’re ineffectual. It seems like the fabric of my nation is threadbare and her former claim of liberty is just a hollow promise. If they ban my guns, I think I will change my citizenship. It doesn’t solve the problem for everyone else, but who am I to thrust my will upon them?
